Local Conservative Councillors have joined fellow Councillors, The Mayor of Rochdale, MP for Rochdale and members of the Ukrainian Community to remember and acknowledge Holomodor at a flag raising and service in Rochdale.
At 10:00am Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group joined the Mayor of Rochdale to help raise the Ukrainian flag at Number One Riverside, the flag was then lowered to half mast as a mark of respect.
At 2:00pm members gathered in the memorial gardens at the monument marking the Holomodor Genocide. The memorial stone was blessed while members of the Ukrainian community sang in remembrance of the millions who died in the genocide which lasted from 1932 to 1933.
