Greater Manchester Police have announced details of dedicated police and community support officers for local communities in a bid to help reassure members of the public and deter local crime and anti-social behaviour. With news this year that over 80,000 crimes have not been recorded properly in Greater Manchester and Andy Burnham refusing to take responsibility for the way that the service has failed victims of crime under his supervision, it will be a reassurance to local people that they can contact someone locally when they need to.
Conservative Ward councillors have regular meetings with our Neighbourhood Officers and PCSOs where they feed back communications that they have had with residents and hear about the efforts that are being made on a local level to address crime and anti-social behaviour. One of the big issues commonly shared by residents is that they feel that there are not enough officers on the streets, so it is hoped that this new initiative will help to reassure people that there are specific PCSOs and PCs working in their part of the borough.
