With the support of over 10,000 Conservative voters, the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Conservative Association have held seats across the borough to maintain a strong Conservative presence on Rochdale Council.
Conservative seats in Wardle & West Littleborough, Norden and Bamford were held with large majorities while in other areas strong Conservative candidates returned good results in Healey, Littleborough and Hopwood Hall in Heywood and Middleton, proving that Conservative support is growing across the borough.
Conservative Party Leader and Candidate for Wardle & West Littleborough, Ashley Dearnley said: "It is an honour to have been re-elected with such a massive majority, I am delighted with the result and am looking forward to continuing to serve the people of the borough."
Bamford Candidate, Jane Howard, who takes over following the retirement of long-standing Conservative Councillor, Jane Gartside said: "I am over the moon if I can do just half the job that Jane Gartside did during her time in Bamford then I will be doing a good job. I am very pleased to have been given this opportunity by the people of Bamford and am looking forward to serving the ward."
Standing down after 33 years of service, Councillor Jane Gartside said: "Tonight I finally stood down, but I did so with great faith in Jane Howard. I met Jane when she was a young girl and I am so very proud of her. I have every faith that she will do an excellent job in Bamford."
